Patrons: Martin Clunes and Lord Knight of Weymouth Registered Charity No. 1141654/1170553

TheHorseCourse is a distinct methodology with a well-defined programme and a clear theory of change (see Evidence page). The programme's success relies strongly on the style and quality of the horsemanship.

We are completely redesigning the way we train people to become facilitators at TheHorseCourse. This is the first ever opportunity to train from scratch onsite at our Weymouth centre. If you are over 18, horsey and passionate about helping people turn their lives around through an evidence-based horsemanship intervention – this could be your big chance!

We are looking for horsey people who are calm and confident and who connect well with other people. It is not essential that you have experience with natural horsemanship but that would be a plus – we will put you through an intensive hands-on training programme for up to 3 months. The most successful trainees will be invited to join our team of full or part-time salaried facilitators. Financial support is available during the training period.

Training will be demanding and assessments will be ongoing and rigorous. If at any time we feel you are not suited to continue, we will stop the training programme and work with you on a plan for self-development so you can apply again when you’re ready.

Application form available here: in Word or PDF format.

Facilitator Training

If you are not in a position to apply for the Weymouth opportunity above, you can still apply for future training opportunities with us using the same application form: Available here in Word or PDF format.

We will be offering our new training programme for people from any horsey background both onsite or through a blended (web & onsite) approach – launching in 2022.

If however you are a Parelli level 3/4 student or a Parelli instructor, you will be able to fast track - This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for more details.

Our training is free of charge as our charitable aim is to spread the benefit of our work as widely as possible.  We also support those who have the skills and potential to open and run their own centre. There are often opportunities for trained facilitators to get paid work at our centre or one of our supported hubs.

Deep Dive Days

A Deep Dive Day is for anyone who is interested in learning more about our methodology and practice. We share all our materials, explain how our programmes work and answer any questions you would like to ask. This is NOT a training or a qualification, it is for those interested in discovering more about effective equine-assisted work.

You may be:

  • a mental health, social work or education professional

  • a horseman of any flavour

  • a Parelli student, not yet ready for our Facilitator training

  • an equine-assisted practitioner under a different methodology, wanting to widen your perspectives

Places can be booked for our 1 day Deep Dive at Eventbrite. Cost: £75 for the day.

Non-verbals Toolbox

We offer a 2 hour training in our specialism - reading non-verbal clues to emotions and having practical strategies to help yourself or others to shift to a more functional state. This is available to the public as well as professionals in mental health, education or social care. It is a fun, interactive workshop – you will learn lots about yourself, your family and friends, and how to maintain harmony at home and at work!

Book a place on one of our upcoming courses (in person or zoom) at Eventbrite. Cost £25/person or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to arrange a group session at your premises, £250/group.

Professional taster sessions

For professionals in mental health, education or social care. A tour of our site, a hands on horse session (for those in the group who wish to) and information of when and how to refer.
